PROJECT INSPIRATION

Living the Tao

My father, Leow Bock Kiong, age 58 (in 2013), works as a Taoist priest and carves Chinese ancestral tablets. He took up this profession more than twenty-five years ago, just before I was born. As he works from home, I have seen him work from young. Due to his nature of work, I have been brought up in a family that celebrates the rich Chinese culture — from learning Mandarin, to the stories of heroes and moral exemplars in myths and legends, celebrating Chinese festivities and presenting offerings to our ancestors, and to the values and virtues that I was brought up with; my family lives the Tao in many aspects of our lives.
